Isabel Hopley - Principal
Principal of ADT, Miss Isabel Hopley has been dancing since she was 2 years old and completed ballet exams to Advanced level with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) tap and modern dance to Intermediate level and national dance to Advanced level with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD). She won numerous medals and trophies in competitions including the TDCI Senior Ballet Championship for Cumbria and danced on several occasions with the English Youth Ballet. She then went on to gain a BA (Hons) in Dance and then continued to study for further qualifications with the RAD receiving a Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies and becoming a registered Royal Academy of Dance Teacher.
Isabel has previously taught popular dance classes in Fort William and Lochgilphead and also taught for a number of years at The Cairngorm School of Dance in Aviemore - one of the largest dance schools in the Highlands. Some of her former pupils have already had great success, going on to full time dance training at establishments including the prestigious Dance School of Scotland in Glasgow, but Isabel is keen to stress that her classes are not just for those aspiring to a career in dance. "Dance is for everyone" she says. " There are so many benefits to physical and mental well being. My classes range from those for small children which will help to develop social skills, coordination and self expression, to 18 year olds who are looking for a fun way to keep fit and enjoy coming to socialise too! Whether you're dreaming of a career on stage or just an enjoyable hobby, everyone will be welcomed and valued at ADT."
Safety is a core value at ADT also. Isabel explains that she completed a dissertation on safe dance practice as part of her degree and is committed to providing a secure environment for all her pupils. "I am trained in First Aid, am PVG checked and have completed NSPCC Safeguarding training" she says. "I am fully insured, hold the necessary music licence and a fully trained and qualified dance teacher”
Inclusivity is at the heart of ADT. Isabel states " I feel that everyone should have the opportunity to experience dance and the benefits that can come from taking part in a dance class, both physically and mentally." Here at ADT we strive to make our classes as accessible as we possibly can and want every student who walks through our doors to feel welcomed, appreciated and heard.
